TOPTAGLIO wins the demolition of the Magic Movie Park

It was supposed to be a futuristic and unique multiplex, a large amusement park with a cinema, nestled in the protected woods of Grugnotorto Park. However, the Magic Movie Park in Muggiò, in the outskirts of Milan, closed shortly after its inauguration. The building, now dilapidated and in a state of total decay and abandonment for over 15 years, will finally be demolished. The area will be cleaned up, and the greenery will be restored.

The redevelopment project, long desired by the municipal administration to combat improper and indiscriminate use of the land, is a dream that has come true after many years.

TOPTAGLIO, after participating in the public tender issued by the CUC of the Province of Monza and Brianza, has won the demolition and crushing campaign of the large cinema, thanks to the work of engineer Alessandro Reggiori, TOPTAGLIO’s commercial director.

“We are proud,” says Paolo Ceresoli, TOPTAGLIO’s CEO, “to be able to contribute to the regeneration of this area, which has been in a state of degradation and danger for some time, detrimental to the entire community. The redevelopment project, which will enable environmental recovery and the livability of this area, fully represents our corporate philosophy.”

Among those present in the photo are Paolo Ceresoli, the CEO of TOPTAGLIO, Colonel Rosario Di Gangi, the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri in Monza, Her Excellency Prefect Patrizia Palmisani, Mayor Maria Fiorito, and Emanuele Valter Scicolone, the construction site manager of TOPTAGLIO.

Due to the high costs required for the demolition of the building, the Municipality of Muggiò, which had acquired it at auction in March 2021 (with an expenditure of 1,650,000 euros), had to seek additional financial resources, which were provided through a state funding (the allocation of 2,031,945 euros was made through a call for urban regeneration projects by the Italian Ministry of the Interior) and later integrated into the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). In May 2023, with yet another budget adjustment made necessary by the increasing costs, this state funding was supplemented with additional resources from the Municipality, bringing the total project cost to 2,517,281.98 euros.

Mayor Maria Fiorito expresses her satisfaction: “This is a particularly emotional moment for me. We have achieved what I have always believed, deep in my heart, to be the most important goal of my term, one that would change the face of the city and heal a deep wound. I arrive at the construction site handover after dreaming and sensing a possible path towards solving what seemed like an unsolvable problem. We did not want to turn a blind eye to such decay, but we took on the responsibility of adding it to our assets. We worked diligently, determined, and punctual with our legal team and municipal officials, keeping the desire to improve the quality of life high, not through a mere reconstruction of a dilapidated building or a generic redevelopment project, but by combating improper and indiscriminate land use. In this regard, I would like to thank our Prefect, who is always by the side of the mayors and attentive to the needs of our citizens, for her support, and Major Perrone, along with Lieutenant Rapone, with whom I have had many discussions, for their attentive oversight of the site. Thanks to this strong alliance between institutions, the value of legality has been affirmed, and now we can all together write the first page of what will be remembered as a Beautiful Story. A story with a happy ending.”
